Living in Spring

Historic Old Town charm, forest-green creeks and trails, airport minutes, and one of the best park systems in Greater Houston.

Spring is really two characters in one: Old Town Spring, a restored pioneer settlement of galleries, boutiques, and festivals that feels like a movie set, and the green, master-planned modern heart that surrounds it: Gleannloch Farms, Windrose, Spring Trails and more, woven between creeks, pines, and the giant Mercer Arboretum. For families who want nature, history, and Bush Intercontinental within easy reach, the north side has few better addresses.

Inside Spring

What neighborhoods make up Spring?

Every community here is really a handful of neighborhoods with their own personality. Here is the short tour, the way I would give it in the car.

Old Town Spring

The restored historic district: shops, galleries, restaurants, and seasonal festivals in a picture-postcard pioneer setting.

Gleannloch Farms

A golf-course master-planned community with equestrian trails, a top pick for families and horse lovers.

Windrose

Resort-style master-planned living with amenity centers, lakes, and mature trees.

Spring Trails

A forested master-planned community hugging preserved green space along the creek, with miles of trails.

Legends Ranch & established pockets

Gated and established neighborhoods that stretch along the creeks and corridors.

Getting around

What is the commute really like?

Spring sits at the I-45 and Grand Parkway knot of the north side: downtown Houston is 25 to 35 minutes on a typical day, George Bush Intercontinental Airport about 20 minutes away, The Woodlands 10 minutes north, and the Beltway and Hardy Toll Road link everything. Old Town's festivals, the Greenway's trails, and the airport's terminals are all familiar drives, which is precisely why so many north Houston families choose this corner.

Schools

Which schools serve Spring?

Spring's school districts are famously split: Klein ISD serves much of the west and parts of north Spring with a strong regional reputation, Spring ISD covers much of the east, and Conroe ISD reaches the northern Montgomery County portions, so your street, far more than the city, decides the district. Families moving to Spring learn district boundaries before they learn the grocery store, and I make that easy by confirming zoned campuses at square one.

Daily life

What is daily life like in Spring?

Nature does the heavy lifting in Spring: the Spring Creek Greenway's more than 40 miles of forested hike-and-bike trails, the Mercer Arboretum & Botanic Gardens' world-class plant collections, Pundt Park's 300-plus acres of prairies, lakes, and paddle launches, and Hurricane Harbor waterpark for hot summer weeks. Old Town Spring's festivals, antique shops, and restaurants make weekends feel like a small-town fair, with The Woodlands' upscale shopping and dining minutes up the road.

The honest part: no neighborhood is perfect for everyone. The parks, the commute, the schools, the pace, all of it deserves a real conversation, in English or Spanish, at whatever pace you need.
